Governor Nikki Haley described her feelings as the Confederate flag was lowered Saturday, never to raise again. Going forward its history will be preserved in the museum

It’s time to move the flag from the capitol grounds. … We are not going to allow this symbol to divide us any longer. The fact that people are choosing to use it as a sign of hate is something we cannot stand.”
No matter what the flag once meant, that’s left to historians. Now it has become a lightning rod for racism. Something that we need to move past as a country. This was a courageous move by Haley; time to heal and move forward.
